AIM is a software engineering firm, in operation since 1983, specializing in the design, development and support of information systems for the healthcare industry, with a focus on cancer control. Clients include cancer agencies in Canada and the USA, hospitals, commercial medical laboratories and research facilities.

AIM has developed a number of comprehensive applications: ISIS, a suite of cancer informatics products for preventive oncology, automated data collection and cancer registries; TransMed

for electronic data interchange; AutoCode for text processing and automated coding; and HealthDesk our ASP service (Application Service Provider) which provides web-enabled applications for clinical practice and biomedical research (the Canadian IBD Network Tissue Bank is an example of our ASP service in action). Our support department is able to maintain systems that have been installed and also operates the data centre for HealthDesk services.

Within its chosen area of expertise, AIM provides consulting and project management services, turnkey applications and ongoing support. Project management may encompass the entire process from concept development to the deployment of a completed application or may be more limited in scope, depending on client needs. Our company has considerable experience in the design of clinically related databases, laboratory information systems, techniques for record linking, handling patient encounter records and so on. We have assembled a unique library of components such as definitions, attributes, methods, and database schema models for computerized handling of many tasks related to health services delivery.
