Automated cancer identification and electronic reporting to cancer registries
Is your registry waiting weeks, or even months or more for reports of new cancer cases?
Does your staff manually review histology reports?
Is it time for a new approach?
Switch to E-Path and you'll get:
- Cancer pathology within hours of diagnosis
- All pathology reports in a standardized format
- A desktop pathology report viewer
- An automated ICD-O-3 coding assistant
- Automated data exports to your registry system
- The time and resources to do analysis instead ofdata entry
E-Path brings artificial intelligence to cancer reporting. It automatically screens the text of
pathology reports to determine if findings are reportable. It uses secure network transfer to forward selected
reports to a cancer registry. In the process, it converts reports to a common format and can identify reports by
various categories for research and other purposes.
In short, E-Path gives you rapid, accurate and complete cancer reporting, freeing registry personnel
from the drudgery of pathology report reviews and duplicate data entry so that more important work can be performed.
It's not surprising then that E-Path is the preferred method of cancer case finding and
reporting for many leading cancer surveillance and research organizations.
Security and Privacy
E-path has been shown to be fully compliant with U.S. HIPAA rules and with Canadian Personal
Health Information Protection regulations. E-Path's advanced positive case identification system ensures that no
patient identifiers are ever disclosed until a reportable case of cancer is positively identified.
E-Path uses public/private key infrastructure (PKI) for digital signatures, data encryption,
and authentication of sender and receiver. In addition, all reporting is fully audited.
Sensitivity and Specificity
E-Path can achieve extremely high sensitivity and specificity. Each installation is QA tested
to ensure that performance benchmarks are met. In fact, during the QA process, you're likely to discover just how
many cases of cancer you've been missing.
Extensibility
In its basic form, E-Path will report cancers that are diagnosed through histology — which
comprise about 95% of all cancers. However, the scope of case finding can be extended by integrating the system with other
types of electronic records, such as other laboratory results (diagnostic imaging, hematology, etc.) or ADT information
Reliability
E-Path is a fully automated process. Once set up, it requires little human attention and is highly
cost effective. The system includes fault tolerant features to ensure that no data are lost and that complete audit trails are
maintained for all transactions
