TissueMetrix has been successfully used in the following projects:

The Hospital for Sick Children

The Hospital for Sick Children TissueMetrix is currently being used by Dr. Brenda Banwell, Director of the Paediatric Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinic, to manage the data associated with samples taken in a Canada-wide study of children having their first attack of demyelination. Some children completely recover, others have further attacks and are eventually diagnosed with MS. The information being stored will be used to try and determine the clinical and biological predictors of MS.

TissueMetrix is also being used by Dr. David Malkin, Director of the Cancer Genetics Program, to manage the data associated with tissue samples that are collected for research. He and his team are investigating the phenomenon of inherited cancer risk, with the aim to better understand how genes cause cancer, and to develop new treatment techniques.

Ontario Institute for Cancer Research

Ontario Institute for Cancer Research AIM's TissueMetrix is being used to help manage the Ontario Tumour Bank, a province wide tissue repository. The goal of the Ontario Tumour Bank is to provide a source of high quality material to allow the development of diagnostic tools, drug discovery and research. The samples are collected at locations across Ontario, and the information is anonymized and electronically transmitted to the centralized database. The analyses of these tissues are available through a web-based interface also developed by AIM.
